The Tumlingtar to Lukla Trek is a relatively easy trekking route situated in the eastern region of Nepal, offering breathtaking views of Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu. This trail lies between the Sagarmatha and Makalu Barun National Parks, providing trekkers with an opportunity to witness some of the most stunning scenery in Nepal.
Our trek begins from Tumlingtar and follows the Arun River, passing through picturesque locales such as Katike Pul, Majuwa Besi, Phedi, Gurase, Bung, Najingdingma, Panjum, and Paiya, before finally reaching Lukla. Along the way, trekkers are treated to awe-inspiring views of Mera Peak and other prominent peaks like Mt. Everest (8848m) and Mt. Makalu (8463m). They also get to interact with locals, such as the Sherpa and Rai communities, who have resided in the region for centuries.
You can take a daily 30-minute flight with Buddha Air or Yeti Air from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar, which is located just 15 km away. Once you arrive, our MAST staff will warmly welcome you at the airport. From there, we will take you to your pre-booked hotel in Tumlingtar, where you can take some rest and purchase any necessary items from the local market.
You will also have the opportunity to meet your porter guide, who will be accompanying you on your trek. Our staff will introduce you to your guide and ensure that you are fully briefed on what to expect during your trek. You will spend the night at your hotel in Tumlingtar before beginning your adventure the following day.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast at around 8 am, we will begin our trek for the day. We will follow the trail along the side of the Arun River, passing through Chewa Besi and crossing a suspension bridge over the Arun River at Katike (300m). We will then continue walking and make our way through Baluwa Besi (320m) and Majuwa Besi before reaching Gothe Bazar (775m), where we will spend the night at a cozy tea house

After having your breakfast around 8 am, we will begin our trek for the day. We will pass through Jaubari and Bilbate (2800m) before making our way up to Salpa Pass (3350m) and eventually reaching Sanam (2880m). Along the way, you will be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.
As we reach Sanam, we will find one of the best tea houses in the area to spend the night. Here, you will have the opportunity to rest and relax, as well as interact with fellow trekkers and locals. The tea house will provide you with all the necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable stay.
After having your breakfast at around 8 am, we will begin our trek for the day. We will pass through the village of Tiu (2470m) and continue on to Share, Gudel, and eventually make our way up to Bung.
At the National Park Site office located in Bung, we will need to pay the MBNP entrance fee of Rs. 3000 before proceeding. Once that is taken care of, we will find one of the best tea houses in Bung for food and accommodation. Here, you will be able to refuel with delicious meals and relax in comfortable lodgings. The tea house will offer all the necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, allowing you to recharge for the following day’s trek.
Once you’ve had your breakfast around 8 am, we will begin our trek for the day. We will pass through Khiraula, Charakot, and continue on until we reach Surke La (3085m), where we will trek up and make our way to Najingdingma.
As we arrive at Najingdingma, we will find one of the best tea houses in the area for food and accommodation. Here, you can refuel with delicious meals and relax in comfortable lodgings. The tea house will offer all the necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, allowing you to recharge for the following day’s trek
After enjoying your breakfast at around 8 am, we will begin our trek for the day. We will pass through Gaikharka (2300m) and Gompa, before making our way up to Kharka and eventually Pangam La (3173m).
Once we reach Pangam La, we will find one of the best tea houses in the area for food and accommodation. Here, you can enjoy a hot meal and relax in comfortable lodgings. The tea house will offer all the necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, allowing you to rest and recharge for the following day’s trek.
After breakfast at around 8 am, we will start our trek for the day. We will pass through Kharte and make our way up to Khari La (3145m), before continuing on until we reach Paiya.

Pre-booking of tea houses or homestay rooms along this trekking route is not mandatory, as the route is not overly crowded. However, your porter guide will inform the tea house in advance on the same day of arrival.
