Community Projects in Makalu Arun Valley

Makalu Arun Social Trek (MAST) is a nonprofit assisting social trekking agency legally established in Nepal by  SESF Khandbari.   Since 2010, MAST has been organizing social trekking for interested guests around the Makalu Arun Valley Region in eastern  Nepal.

Project Component.

1. Education Support Program:

1.1 Objective:

Distribute educational materials, scholarships, and infrastructure to support local schools.

1.2 Activities:

  • Distributing school  stationery like  notebooks, pencils, school bags, jumpers, and uniforms to underprivileged  primary school and secondary school students
  • Offering scholarships to college students from low-earnings households to preserve their training.
  • Increased children’s school attendance and stepped, improved their educational performance among children inside the Makalu Arun Valley Region of Nepal.

2. Food Materials Distribution Program for Elderly Homes”

At Manakamana an Elderly Home located in Khandbari, Sankhuwasabha district of Eastern Nepal there are almost  35 elderly individuals,  mostly women, living.  They are from 60 to 90  years old.  Most of them are old and weak and are helpless people who have come to different local villages to live there permanently.

These individuals depend on limited food materials and charity donations from visitors to the nearby temple.

Due to the low number of temple visitors and their limited charitable donations to the old people, it is very difficult for them to fill up to quench their appetite. 

To support them, SESF has launched an online fundraising program through global giving. MAST aims to support SESF in distributing food supplies as well as a monthly allowance for clothes, fruits, vegetables and other necessities for these 35-year-olds.

3. Healthcare Access Program:

3.1 Objective:

  • Improve health centers and services in remote villages to increase the overall fitness and well-being of the community.

3.2 Activities:

  • Organizing normal health camps with clinical professionals to provide free take a look at-ups, treatments, and vaccinations.
  • Supplying local clinics with crucial clinical gadgets and drugs.
  • Conducting fitness cognizance workshops focusing on hygiene, vitamins, and sickness prevention.

3.3 Impact:

  • Better access to health care offerings, key to advanced fitness outcomes and reduced prevalence of preventable diseases.

4. Sustainability and Environmental Conservation:

4.1 Objective:

  • Promote sustainable practices and environmental protection to protect the natural splendor of the Makalu Arun Valley.

4.2 Activities:

  • Implementing waste control applications to lessen littering and sell recycling.
  • Educating the network on sustainable farming and water conservation techniques.
  • Organizing tree-planting drives to fight deforestation and maintain neighborhood biodiversity.

4.3 Impact:

  • A purifier, greener environment that supports both the network and tourism.

5. Volunteer and Community Engagement:

5.1 Objective:

  • Engage volunteers and the area people in significant initiatives that contribute to the proper well-being of the area.
