10 Day Mundum Trek.

Explore fascinating Mundum Trek, a cultural hiking, located in the eastern part of Napal. The newly discovered   hiking trail passes through scenic landscape of Khotang and Bhojpur district.

Your real hiking  begins  from Diktel Bajar of Khotang District. Along the route you pass Chakhewa  village,  Rawadhap village,  Salpa Bhangjayang,  and reach   at  the  bottom Silchung mountain . You climb the peak (4200m).  From the top of the peak, you enjoy observing   more than 22 panoramic views of mountain ranges, including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,861m), Mera (6,476m), Chamlang (7,319m), Makalu (8,463m), Chalachuli (3,636m) and the Kanchenjunga range (8,586m).

 After you  finish Silochung Peak expedition, you  follow the trial, pass   Hanspokhari  and finally reach  Bhojpur, the District Headquarter of Bhojpur and travel to Kathmandu by  Bus.

Or there is an option for you that we have designed here. You can follow the trail from Silichho Peak to Salpa Phedi (1,680m), Gothe Bazar, Chewa Besi (410m) and finally  reach Tumlingtar  airport.(457m) and fly to Kathmandu from there.  We have designed this itinerary

Mundum Trek Itinerary

Day 1Drive from Kathmandu to Diktel Bazar (1,650m) (12 hours)

A scenic drive from Kathmandu to Diktel Bazaar, the starting point of your Mundun Trek. Along way you pass through beautiful landscape from urban to rural area of eastern Nepal. After you get at the Bazar you find one of the best hotels for your overnight stay. Meet your local porter guide and be introduced with him at the hotel. Pack the necessary goods and be prepared for 10 days Mundum trekking.
Explore the local market with traditional houses, meet local Rai people, interact with them and study about their culture, traditions and ways of life.

Day 2Trek from Diktel to Chakhewa Village (2,300m)

Commence your trial from Diktel Bazaar towards Chakhewa village. As you climb follow the path through lush forest, quite villages and terraced field. Chakhewa village welcomes you with warm hospitality and stunning view surrounding mountains. You stay overnight at a hotel there.

Day 3Trek from Chakhewa to Dhotre 2,752m

Commence your trek from Chakhewa to Dhotre village. Your trial offers a sight diverse flora and fauna. Dhotre village provides a place for relaxation and cultural engagement. Interact with locals, learn more about their culture and ways of life. Find one of the best teahouses for your overnight stay there.

Day 4Trek from Dhotre to Maiyung (3122m)

This part of Mundum trek is a shorter and easier trail, providing a chance to observe the stunning natural landscape.
Walk continuously, cross the Chhimalung Pass, beautiful Mani wall of Phokte, reach the hill point of Chautara, walk through Mattim Danda, and visit the religious temple of Baspani Devisthan along the way. And reach Mailung for your overnight stay at a teahouse there.
Overall, the third day of the Mundum trek sounds like a great continuation of the adventure, providing a mix of cultural and natural attractions and stunning views.

Day 5 Trek from Maiyung to Rawadhap (3,426m)

This part of the trek leads Rewadhap village located in the towering mountains and dense forest. Pass through the Kirat Rai Villages of Satdobato, Hyakule, and Lauri Bina and reach Rawadhap. This village is a cultural heaven with its ancient monasteries and vibrant community life. Stay overnight at a tea house there.

Day 6Trek from Rawadhap to Salpa Bhanjyang (3,348m)

This day’s trek is not too long. You will have enough time to explore the local culture and traditions. Meet Rai people along the way.
On this leg of journey, you’ll come across some incredible sights, such as the Mani Wall of Nikasa, the Mani of Handi Lake, and the Mani Wall of Salpa Pass (also known as Kulu Pankha Bhanjyang). You’ll spend the night at Salpa Pass or near Salpa Pokhari in a Tent.

Day 7Explore around Silchung Hill (4,200m)

This day is a one of the significant days of Mundum Trek. You begin your early morning hike to the Silichung Peak viewpoint, also known as Salpa Peak, which stands tall at 4,153 meters above sea level. The views from this point are awe-inspiring, offering panoramic views of deep valleys, lush greenery, and the snow-capped Himalayan mountain range. You’ll have the chance to catch a glimpse of the world’s five highest peaks, including Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu, all towering above 8,000 meters. You’ll also be able to admire Thamserku, Kangtega, Amadablam, Dorje Lakpa, Kusum Khungurung, Number, and many other peaks.
After marveling at the stunning vistas, you head back to your camp at Salpa Bhanjyang to enjoy a delicious lunch and explore the nearby Rai village of Sanam and the Kirat village of Guranse. This will be a fulfilling end to an unforgettable day. Your overnight at a Tent there.

Day 8Trek from Salpa Bhanjyang to Gothe Bazar (775m)

This is a longer part of the route you will accomplish. After having your breakfast commence your trek, you hike down the trail pass through Gurase (2880m), Bilbate (2800m), Thulo Phokte (2140m), Phedi ( 1680m), Tallo Phedi, Dobane )920m, and finally reach Gothe Bazar (775m) in the evening. Overnight Stay at a Tea house there.

Day 9Day 9 Trek from Gothe Bazaar to Tumlingtar ( 460m)

From Gothe the trial continues along the north bank of Irkhuwa Khola passes Majuwa Bajuwa Besi (320m), Kateke Pul (300m), Chewabesi (250m), Beteni and finally gets Tumlingtar (460m) for your overnight stay at a Hotel there. Say goodbye to your porter guide. And enjoy grand success of your 9-trekking day there.

Day 10Day 10 Flight from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu

After breakfast, take some time to explore Tumlingtar before your flight to Kathmandu. Enjoy the local culture and scenery, and take some last-minute photos to remember your trip. After lunch, you will head to the airport for your flight back to Kathmandu.
