Lukla Makalu Base Camp Trek Itinerary (26 Days)

Day 1Kathmandu- Lukla -Paiya

Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Meet your concierge guide and let him introduce you. Pack your hiking gear. Then trek to Paiya. Short all-day trek. Overnight at Paiya Tea House

Day 2 Trek from Paiya to Pangum (2850m)

After breakfast start your trek. Khari La pass (3145 m) with a nice view. Trek and pass Charte and reach Pangum (2850 m). Your overnight stay in the tea house there.

Day 3Trek from Pangum to Najingdingma (2650m)

Your trek today will be 5-6 hours. You will have to climb (1120m) and descend (1320m). After breakfast, you will set off on your journey. You will slowly pass Pangum La (3173m), Tropki Kharka, Sibuje (2500m), Gai Kharka (2300m) and finally you will get Najingdingma (2650m) for food and accommodation at the teahouse there.

Day 4Trek from Najingdingma to Bung. ( 1900m)

Have breakfast at your teahouse and get ready for today’s 6-7 hour trek. You will have to pass 430 m of ascent and 1680 m of descent. Keep walking past the village of Surke La Charakot Khiraule Gumpa and finally get a Bung (1900) for spending the night there

Day 5Trek from Bung to Sanam (2850m)

After a big breakfast start your nearly 6-7 hour trek today. Go slowly and carefully, pass Gudel (1900 m) and finally reach Sanam (2850 m), where you spend the night in a tea house.

Day 6Trek from Sanam to Phedi (1680m)

Have breakfast and get ready for a slightly long 7-8 hour trek. Keep going and get Sapla Pokhari (3414m), a sacred wish-fulfilling pool. Visit the pool. Then continue walking and pass Bilbate (2800m) and Jaubari (2040m) and descend to Phedi (1680m) where you spend the night.

Day 07.Trek from Phedi to Gothe Bazar (775m)

Have breakfast and get ready for today’s 5-hour trek. Walk continuously, pass by Tallpo Phedi, Dobhane (920m). Finally reach Gothe Bazar (775 m). Find one of the best tea houses and stay there.

Day 08Trek from Gothebazar to Chewa Besi (250m)

Have breakfast at your teahouse and get ready for today’s trek (5-6 hours). Trek along the Irkhuwa Khola. Go continuously and get Majuwa Besi. From there you trek past Baluwa Besi Katike pul and finally reach Chewa Besi. And find a tea house there to spend the night.overnight stay there.

Day 9 Trek from Chewa besi to Khandbari

After breakfast at your teahouse, start your trek today. Follow the road from Chewabei to Chewa and continue climbing the hill to the top of the village. Then proceed to Mane Bhangyang. You can find Auto Rickshaw to travel to Khandbari Hotel Room..

Day 10Khandbari Rest Day.

This is your rest day. You wash and clean up and get ready for the next 13 days of the trek at Makalu bas camp. You pack almost all the necessary things and pack them carefully. Today you have time to explore the Khandbari area. If you are interested, visit a nearby school and meet the school children and the teaching staff. You can talk to them and also share some knowledge with them.

Day 11:Travel from Khandbari to Num. Trek from Num to Seduwa (1540m)

This is your first day of your MBC trek. (4 hours of jeep travel and 4 hours of walking). After breakfast, around 8 am, you catch your reserved jeep and travel for around 4 hours and get Num. You get out of the jeep and go to a nearby hotel and have something you like. After some rest you descend to the Arun River. Cross the suspension bridge over the river and ascend to Seduwa Village for an overnight stay at a local tea house. Register your TIMS card and pay the Makalu Barun National Park entrance fee of Rs.3000 at the Park Site office.

Day 12.Trek From Seduwa to Tasigaun (2070m)

On the second day of your trek, you have to walk for 4-6 hours to reach the destination (Tasigaun 2027 m). The whole part of this trekking test is uphill. So you climb gently. You pass Chyaksedanda (1890 m) and the primary school at the bottom of Tasigaun. Finally, you get Tasi Gaun to spend the night at the tea house there.

Day 13.Trek from Tasi Gaun to Khongma (3560m)

After breakfast at the tea house, you will start the 4-6 hour trek. You climb Khongma (3560 m). You may experience the first symptoms of altitude sickness. On the route you will pass Danda Kharka, Chipla (2520m) Unishisha (3180m) and finally reach Khongma..

Day 14.Trek from Khongma to Dobato (3550m)

After breakfast at 8 am at your tea house, start the trek to Dobato which takes around 4 to 5 hours. Today you will pass three passes: Ghenguru La (4045 m), Shipton La (4216 m) and Keke La (4150 m). Admire the breathtaking beauty of Chamalang and admire the imposing peaks of Peak 6 (6739m) and Peak 7 (6105m) on your trek and finally reach Dobato where you will spend the night at a tea house.

Day 15Trek from Dobato to Yangle Kharka (3600m)

Have breakfast at the tea house and get ready for the 4-5 hour drive to Yangle Kharka. You have to descend 700m and ascend 750m. From Dobato, slowly descend and pass Phematang and cross the Braun River and finally reach Yangle Kharka (3600m) where you will spend the night.

Day 16.Yangle Kharka (Rest Day) (3600)

Today is your rest day in Yangle. Treat yourself to a well-deserved rest and acclimatize to your surroundings. Use this time to fully relax and enjoy the amazing natural beauty around you. Overnight in the same teahouse.

Day 17.Trek from Yangle Kharka to Langmale Kharka (4410m)

Have breakfast at 8am at the teahouse, then start a gentle climb to Nghe Kharka (3750m), Ripuk Kharka (3930m), Jhak Kharka (4210m) and finally Langmale Kharka (4400m). This journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours. At the end of the day, find one of the best teahouses in Langmale Kharka to spend the night

Day 18. Trek from Langmale Kharka to Makalu Base Camp (4870m)

After breakfast at eight in the morning, you will need four to five hours to reach the Makalu base camp at an altitude of 4870 meters. Once there, find one of the best tea houses for a delicious dinner and a cozy place to stay. Enjoy reaching your hiking destination while enjoying the breathtaking surroundings

Day 19.Makalu Base camp Exploration Day

Discover the amazing surroundings of Makalu Base Camp. Reaching destinations like Peak 3 above Shersong (5250m), Barun Pokhari (4950m), Hillary Base Camp and more will be facilitated by your guide. Enjoy the breathtaking views and let yourself be carried away by the untouched charm of the area. At the end of the day, return to the same tea house and spend the night.

Day 20Trek from Makalu Base Camp to Yangle Kharka.

Start your descent to Yangle Kharka after breakfast at your MBC tea house. Find a nice teahouse at Yangle Kharka for overnight stay en route.

Day 21.Trek from Yangle Kharka to Dobato

After enjoying breakfast at a tea house in Yangle, proceed to Dobato for overnight stay. The hike should take 4 to 6 hours.

Day 22.Trek form Dobato to Khongma

It would take four to six hours to drive to Khongma after breakfast at Dobato. When you get there, look for a room in the teahouse where you can spend the night. Enjoy the beauty of the surroundings once more.

Day 23.Trek from Khongma to Tasigaun

After a satisfying breakfast at Khongma, descend to Tasigaun, which will require four to six hours of walking. Find a cozy room in the tea room, relax for a while and enjoy food and some drinks. Don’t miss the opportunity to take in the local sights and sounds. Stay overnight in Tasigaun at a tea house.ea house.

Day 24Trek From Tasigaun to Seduwa

After a morning meal at the Tasigaun teahouse, descend to Seduwa gradually and carefully. The trip should take four to six hours. Find one of the best teahouses in Seduwa, then take a moment to relax, have some food and sip some drinks. Explore the local area and attractions.

Day 25Trek from Seduwa to Chamlakha Travle from ChamlaKharka to Khndbari
