After leaving Makalu Base Camp, return via the trails that lead through Yangle, Dobato, Shipton La, Khongma, Seduwa and Num to Khandbari where you will spend the night in teahouses along the way.

Itinerary

Buddha Air offers daily thirty minute flights from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar Airport. Meet the MAST staff at the airport. Then take an auto rickshaw to your hotel room in Khandbari which will take 15 minutes. Meet and greet your porter guide once you have some time to recover at the hotel. thorough planning, packing all the required things in the backpack and complete preparation for the 14-day trek.

After morning meal around 7:30 a.m. board the reserved jeep to Num. The jeep is running
From Khandbari via Chichila (20 km), Num (38 km), Hedangna Gadi (55 km), Simma (62 km), Ekua to Gola (76 km) in the evening (about an hour’s journey).

Have a big breakfast at a tea house in Gol and start your trek. Follow the hiking trail along the Arun River. Go continuously and reach the Barun River. Cross the suspension bridge over the Barun River and continue walking for 4-5 hours to reach Hatiya (1585m). Find a tea house to spend the night and relax after a day’s journey.

Important: Find the Makalu Barun National Park office and pay the National Park Entry Fee (Rs.3000) per person. Visit the hot spring if you have time to visit there.

Make sure you have a good breakfast to give you energy. Start the trek around 8:00 am along the route to Hungung. Keep in mind that this is a village where teahouses may not be readily available, so it’s important to work with a local porter guide to find a suitable house for the night.

This day is your rest day in Yangle. Use this time to relax and observe the stunning natural beauty around. Overnight in the same teahouse.

After breakfast, climb gently to Nghe Kharka (3750m). Pass Ripuk Kharka (3930 m), Jhak Kharka (4210 m), and finally to Langmale Kharka (4400 m). This day trek approximately 4 to 5 hours. You spend the night at the Yangle teahouse.se.

After morning breakfast, start the 4 to 5 hour ascent to Makalu Base Camp (4870m). Once you arrive, choose one of the best teahouses to spend the night. Enjoy reaching your hiking destination while enjoying the breathtaking surroundings.

Reaching landmarks like Barun Pokhari (4950m), Peak 3 above Shersong (5250m), Hillary Base Camp Lookout (5900m) and more will be facilitated by your guide. This day you will return back home after a long Nepal trekking adventure. After breakfast, head for Yangle Kharka. Find a suitable tea house for an overnight stay.

Have morning breakfast at tea house, walk for 4 to 6 hours to get Dobato for overnight stay there.re.

It will take four to six hours to walk to Shipton La after breakfast at Dobato and down the Khongma Way. When you reach Khongma, go to the tea house and book a room for the night. Enjoy the beauty of the surroundings while you are there

After breakfast, proceed to Tasigaun; the hike will take you four to six hours. Find a cozy room in the tea room, relax for a while and enjoy food and some drinks. Don’t miss the opportunity to take in the local sights and sounds. Stay overnight at Tasigaun Tea House.

After breakfast, start the four to six hour hike to Seduwa moving slowly and carefully. Find one of the best teahouses in Seduwa and then take a moment to relax and enjoy food and drinks. Discover the attractions of the area and surroundings

After breakfast, descend to the Arun River, cross the river via a suspension bridge and then climb the motorable road to meet your booked jeep at Chalakharka. You will reach the Khandbari hotel room after five to six hours of travel. Say goodbye to the escort of your porter, greet the staff of our organization and evaluate the entire trip..

Today you are going to explore the Khandbari district. Volunteering is another option if you have some free time. Go to the market and if you’re feeling fearless, pick up a locally made souvenir or two. You can also spend time visiting any hospital, school or project that our organization supports

After breakfast at the hotel, get ready to travel to Tumlingtar Airport. An auto rickshaw will be waiting to catch you. Grab a vehicle and drive 15 minutes to the airport. After check-in, say goodbye to your company staff and enjoy a sightseeing flight to Kathmandu

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
