Tumlingtar Lukla Trek is one of moderate off-the beaten path trek which connects Makalu Region   with Everest region. In Nepal   the route offers magnificent views of Mt. Makalu (8463m), Mt. Everest (8,848m) and other peaks of Mahalangur Himalayan range. This route passes through two of Nepal’s most beautiful landscapes, Sagarmatha and Makalu Barun National Park and reaches Salpa Bhanjyang  (3350m) the highest point of the trek

With the convenience of teahouses available along the    hiking, light weight teahouse trek has become possible now a days.

With the help of a local porter guide who can carry your 15-20 kg weight you can enjoy this trek happily and return home with a long-lasting travel experience.

Tumlingtar Lukla Trek Detail Itinerary

Buddha Air offers daily 30-minute flights from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar airport. Welcome at the airport by MAST personnel. Take an auto rickshaw to the Tumlingtar hotel that we have reserved in advance.Meet and be introduced with your porter guide. Overnight stay at the hotel there.

After breakfast at around 8 am, begin your trek for the day. Follow the trail along the side of the Arun River, passing through Chewa Besi and crossing a suspension bridge over the Arun River at Katike (300m). Overnight Stay at a Teahouse there.

We will then continue walking and make our way through Baluwa Besi (320m) and Majuwa Besi before reaching Gothe Bazar (775m), where we will spend the night at a teahouse there.

Tooday the trekking trail goes through villages and rice. After you cross a long suspension bridge over Irkhuwa Khola you will get Phedi. Your overnight is at a teahouse at Phedi.

After having your morning meal, start your trek for the day. Walk and pass Jaubari, Thulo Phokte (2140m), Bilbate (2800m, Gurase (2600m), Sapla Pokhari, Salpa Pass (3350m) and Get Sanam (2850m) for your overnight stay a teahouse there.

After having your breakfast at around 8 am, begin your trek for the day. Pass through the village of Tiu (2470m) and continue on to Share, Gudel, and get Bung. Your overnight stay at a teahouse there. At the National Park Site office pay the MBNP entrance fee of Rs. 3000

After your breakfast begin your trek for the day. Walk and Pass through Khiraula, Charakot, and continue until you reach Surke La (3085m), where you trek up and make our way to Najingdingma for overnight stay there.

After enjoying your breakfast at around 8 am,begin your trek, pass through Gai Kharka (2300m) and Gompa, before making your way up to Kharka and eventually Pangam La (3173m) for your overnight stay there

After breakfast at around 8 am, start your trek for the day continue walking pass pass through Kharte and make our way up to Khari La (3145m), before continuing on until you reach Paiya for your overnight stay at a teahouse there.

After enjoying your breakfast at around 8 am, commence your trek up to Lukla. You make your way through the final stretch of the trail, taking in the beautiful scenery as you walk

This day is a well-deserved rest day for you at Lukla. Take this opportunity to rest and recharge after your trek, and to enjoy some of the sights and sounds of this beautiful place. Also say goodbye to your porter guide.

Question 01: Can I customize this trek program as per my requirement?

Yes. You can if you need. No problem. For your customization facilitation we send you a spreadsheet file to your mail id. There you add or remove some days or your activities or more service you need and send us for our information. After we finalize the detail itinerary, we calculate the total cost you need to pay us and send you for your consideration.

Question 02: How long do we walk every day when doing Tumlingtar Lukla Trek?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

Question 03:What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is Salpa Pass (3350m). This is the elevation of Tumlingtar Lukla Trek .

Question 04: What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries along this trekking route. Charger should be brought. There are no hot shower facilities. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). 

Question 05: Are there ATMs on the way toTumlingtar Lukla Trek ?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route away from Tumlingtar area. You will have to draw enough cash in   Tumlingtar or in Kathmandu.  Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. 

Question 06: What about internet access?

The Internet can  be accessed along this trekking route. Mobile Data can work. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. 

Question 06: Why has food and accommodation cost not been included in Makalu Arun Social Trek's trekking package cost?

At Makalu Arun Social Trek’s total trekking packages cost food and accommodation cost for the guest along any trekking routes has not been included.
We would like to provide you freedom to choose whatever food and drink and accommodation you like to have and pay yourself directly to your service providers. Your porter guide pays for his own food and accommodation, and you pay for your part.
Although we offer all-inclusive packages, we think it is cheaper and better for you to pay for your own food and accommodation along the trekking route.

Question 07: My flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar cancelled because of bad weather. And I could not find a flight ticket for the next day. What Can I do to travel from Kathmandu to Khandbari?

Fly to Biratnagar from Kathmandu at 7am, 11 am, 12 pm, or 2 pm (a 30-40 minute flight). Upon landing at Biratnagar airport, head to the main road and take an express bus to Dharan (fare of Rs.120 per person, 1 hour of travel time). From the Dharan bus station, go to the Dharan-Khandbari jeep counter. You can call us from there if necessary, but keep in mind that a jeep will only leave Dharan once it is fully loaded with 10 passengers. To ensure your travel, consider reserving a jeep to Khandbari (Rs.10000). Otherwise, you will have to spend the night at a hotel in Dharan and take a bus or jeep to Khandbari the next day (6-8 hours of travel time, Rs. 1000 for jeep/bus fare).

Question 08: What will happen if I add some extra day in my itinerary?

If you are interested to enjoy adding some more days in the itinerary, we welcome you to do it. But you will have to pay us for the additional days salary for the porter guide after you come back from your trek.
