Tumlingtar Lukla Trek is one of moderate off-the beaten path trek which connects Makalu  Region   with Everest region. In Nepal   the route offers magnificent views of Mt. Makalu (8463m), Mt. Everest (8,848m) and other peaks of Mahalangur Himalayan range. This route passes through two of Nepal’s most beautiful landscapes, Sagarmatha and Makalu Barun National Park and reaches Salpa Bhanjyang  (3350m) the highest point of the trek

With the convenience of teahouses available along the    hiking, light weight teahouse trek has become possible now a days.

With the help of a local porter guide who can carry your 15-20 kg weight you can enjoy happily and return home with a long-lasting travel experience.

Itinerary

Buddha Air offers daily 30-minute flights from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar airport. Welcome at the airport by MAST personnel. Take an auto rickshaw to the Tumlingtar hotel that we have reserved in advance.Meet and be introduced with your porter guide. Overnight stay at the hotel there.

After breakfast at around 8 am, begin your trek for the day. Follow the trail along the side of the Arun River, passing through Chewa Besi and crossing a suspension bridge over the Arun River at Katike (300m). Overnight Stay at a Teahouse there.

We will then continue walking and make our way through Baluwa Besi (320m) and Majuwa Besi before reaching Gothe Bazar (775m), where we will spend the night at a teahouse there.

Tooday the trekking trail goes through villages and rice. After you cross a long suspension bridge over Irkhuwa Khola you will get Phedi. Your overnight is at a teahouse at Phedi.

After having your morning meal, start your trek for the day. Walk and pass Jaubari, Thulo Phokte (2140m), Bilbate (2800m, Gurase (2600m), Sapla Pokhari, Salpa Pass (3350m) and Get Sanam (2850m) for your overnight stay a teahouse there

After having your breakfast at around 8 am, begin your trek for the day. Pass through the village of Tiu (2470m) and continue on to Share, Gudel, and get Bung. Your overnight stay at a teahouse there. At the National Park Site office pay the MBNP entrance fee of Rs. 3000

After your breakfast begin your trek for the day. Walk and Pass through Khiraula, Charakot, and continue until you reach Surke La (3085m), where you trek up and make our way to Najingdingma for overnight stay there.

After enjoying your breakfast at around 8 am,begin your trek, pass through Gai Kharka (2300m) and Gompa, before making your way up to Kharka and eventually Pangam La (3173m) for your overnight stay there

After breakfast at around 8 am, start your trek for the day continue walking pass pass through Kharte and make our way up to Khari La (3145m), before continuing on until you reach Paiya for your overnight stay at a teahouse there.

After enjoying your breakfast at around 8 am, commence your trek up to Lukla. You make your way through the final stretch of the trail, taking in the beautiful scenery as you walk.

This day is a well-deserved rest day for you at Lukla. Take this opportunity to rest and recharge after your trek, and to enjoy some of the sights and sounds of this beautiful place. Also say goodbye to your porter guide.

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay a certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, a hot water facility could be free at a lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. The Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. The Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during the offseason.

It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For the Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
