MAST Community Projects
Every trek with Makalu Arun Social Trek (MAST) helps fund projects in the Makalu Arun region of eastern Nepal. Our projects are paid for by MAST’s profits and by donations from trekkers, and they are run locally by people who know the community’s needs.

Food Support for Manakamana Elderly Home
The challenge
Manakamana Elderly Home in Khandbari is home to 35 elderly people, almost all women between 60 and 90 years old. Many came from distant villages after family difficulties. They rely on small donations from visitors to the nearby temple, which are often not enough to buy food.
How we help
- MAST regularly provides rice, lentils, oil and other food supplies to the home. [Adjust to what you actually give.]
