Makalu Arun Social Trek ( MAST)

 One day in a SESF committee meeting we discussed  about looking for a permanent source of income for running the organization program smoothly. Over the years, we had seen trekkers from different countries around the world often walking through our villages staying the in the tent in the open lawn consuming food carried by their porters without benefiting the local communities.

We thought about if we could organize the trekking program socially in a different way.   In the meeting we decided to consult an advocate about the process of establishing a social trekking company in Khandbari.  

Soon we consulted an advocate and explained to him about our new thought. He suggested us to establish a social trekking company   Khandbari.

Following the advice of the advocate we founded a company entitled Makalu Arun Social Trek    with an objective to organize community friendly social trekking program around eastern Nepal in 2010

Now we are proud to tell you that our company is registered and government licensed. Through the company we have been organizing   social trekking program successfully with help of our local porter guides   around   hiking routes located in eastern Nepal.

Till date have successfully organized   Community Trek for more than 60 groups from different countries.   We employ porter guides from the local community. Our guests walk at their own pace, stay at the local tea houses or home stays or tents. Some of our interested guests also do some volunteering as per their   time and interest
